Empowering Educators: Fort Thomas Education Foundation’s Grant Patrol Delivers Surprise Funding for Innovative Teaching Projects

Last week, the Fort Thomas Education Foundation (FTEF) held its annual Grant Patrol, a delightful tradition where FTIS teachers are surprised with news that their grant requests have been funded. This year, the FTEF funded over $44,000 in grants!

The success of this initiative comes from the generous donations of families and community partners. Over its 20-year history, the FTEF has provided more than $1 million in grants to teachers.

This year, various schools received grants for exciting projects:

  • Highlands High School and Middle School: Equipment for drones, improvements to the string program, new band instruments, photo lab equipment, sensory room updates, and response technology.
  • Johnson Elementary: Inclusive equipment for all students.
  • Moyer Elementary: Preschool enrichment programs.

Frank Twehues, the FTEF Board President, expressed gratitude for the community’s support, saying, “Thanks to the generous donations, we can provide grants that help our schools shine. I am particularly excited about the rise of student-led grant requests. It’s heartening to see our district nurturing a new generation of compassionate and civic-minded leaders.”

Beth Brubaker, a journalism teacher at Highlands High School, shared her appreciation for the funding of the photo lab, stating, “Thank you to the FTEF for supporting our programs. We truly value this investment.”

The FTEF, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to enhancing education in public schools. Through its public-private partnerships, it has significantly impacted Fort Thomas schools, contributing over $14 million to enhance educational experiences.
