Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, recently led a vibrant event called “Sundays on Cycle” in New Delhi. This initiative aims to inspire people across the nation to embrace fitness and lead healthier lives.

Dr. Mandaviya expressed his gratitude to healthcare workers for their commitment during the COVID-19 pandemic. The event excited participants from all age groups and featured World Para Athletics Championship medalists like Praveen Kumar and Soman Rana. Their involvement served as motivation for others to adopt a more active lifestyle.
This particular edition was organized with the help of various partners, including the Cycling Federation of India and Raahgiri Foundation. Besides cycling, the gathering also included activities like Zumba, rope skipping, and yoga, catering to everyone.

Praveen Kumar, one of the medalists, shared that exercise enhances focus, which is vital for success. He praised the initiative for motivating people to take charge of their health. Another medalist, Sailesh Kumar, noted that dedicating even one hour a day to fitness can lead to significant health benefits.
The “Sundays on Cycle” initiative encourages communities to gather every Sunday to cycle and engage in fitness activities outdoors. A recent survey revealed that 40% of people recognized the need for fitness but didn’t know where to start. With approximately 12.5 lakh participants over its 44 editions, the initiative has made a notable impact. Events take place not only in major cities but also in smaller towns, reflecting a nationwide commitment to health.
