Empowering Future Innovators: Northwood University Honors the 2026 Class of Business Leaders

On April 18, Northwood University held its 46th Outstanding Business Leader Awards Gala at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. The event celebrated five remarkable individuals whose leadership has made a significant impact in various industries, from entertainment to manufacturing.

Dr. Kent MacDonald emphasized the event’s importance. “This gala connects our students with leaders who exemplify perseverance and service. These honorees are more than successful businesspeople; they uplift communities and inspire the next generation.” Each honoree’s work illustrates the power of free enterprise guided by integrity.

Since its inception in 1981, the awards have not only celebrated business leadership but also supported the Outstanding Business Leader Endowed Scholarship Fund, helping students achieve their dreams. This year, honorees participated in roundtable discussions with students, offering mentorship and career insights. Students went beyond traditional learning; they had the chance to introduce the honorees, creating a personal connection and enhancing their confidence.

This year’s honorees included:

  • Paul A. Glantz, chairman and CEO of EH Real Estate LLC
  • Jennifer Tenaglia Panning, president of Artisan Tile Inc.
  • Danny Sullivan, a celebrated race car driver
  • Linzie Venegas, COO of Ideal Group
  • Warren Henry Zinn, honored posthumously, was represented by his son, Larry Zinn

In a recent survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, employers stated that “leadership potential” is one of the key qualities they look for in graduates. This gala aims to inspire students to develop such qualities, showcasing real-life examples of how effective leadership can lead to job creation and community strengthening.

Student Karley Baker expressed her appreciation for the event, noting, “Northwood creates a network that extends beyond the university, shaped by shared values and a commitment to making a difference.”

The gala not only highlighted individual achievements but also reinforced the importance of investing in future leaders. These events create opportunities that resonate far beyond the evening, aiming to foster ambition and character in students.
