During the sixth day of the National Service Scheme (NSS) camp at Maharani Kishori Jat Kanya Mahavidyalaya, students learned about important issues like tree planting, environmental conservation, and water conservation. They also discussed how to prevent water-borne diseases and the importance of blood donation.
A team from the ‘Suno Naharon Ki Pukar’ Mission visited the camp in Mayna village. This group aims to raise awareness about keeping canal water clean. They were greeted warmly by NSS programme officers, Dr. Savita Malik and Dr. Sofia.
The delegation included key members such as Dr. Jasmer Singh, Deepak Chhara, Mukesh Nainkwal, and Ajay Hooda. Dr. Jasmer emphasized the need to conserve water and avoid polluting waterways.
Deepak Chhara, an environmentalist, engaged the students with a song, “Laado Suno Ped Lagana,” which highlighted the importance of planting trees. He shared how trees and clean air contribute to our survival.
Mukesh Nainkwal, a health worker and cyclist, discussed water-borne diseases. He conveyed the message that taking care of one’s health is crucial for building a healthy community.
Ajay Hooda pointed out that fewer girls participate in blood donation drives. He encouraged the students to improve their involvement while maintaining a nutritious diet.
The session wrapped up with all the students pledging to conserve water and protect their local canals and rivers from pollution.
