Empowering India’s Defense: CARACAL and ICOMM Unveil State-of-the-Art Small Arms Facility in Hyderabad as Part of ‘Make in India’ Initiative

CARACAL, a key small arms manufacturer based in the UAE, has teamed up with ICOMM Tele Ltd in Hyderabad, India, to open a new small arms manufacturing plant. This facility will serve as a local hub, creating advanced weaponry under a technology transfer agreement, marking a major step in the defense collaboration between the UAE and India.

The factory will produce various firearms, including:

– The CAR 816 close-quarters battle rifle.
– The CAR 817 assault rifle.
– The lightweight CSR 338 bolt-action sniper rifle.
– The CSR 308 bolt-action sniper rifle.
– The CSR 50 anti-materiel sniper rifle.
– The modern CMP9 submachine gun.
– The CARACAL EF and CARACAL F GEN II combat pistols.

These weapons are designed to meet the needs of Indian Armed Forces and police forces, and they will also be available for export.

Sumanth Paturu, Managing Director of ICOMM Tele Ltd, stated that this facility reflects their commitment to supporting India’s defense forces and aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a self-reliant India. He emphasized that ICOMM is dedicated to producing high-quality equipment for both India and the global market.

Hamad Alameri, CEO of CARACAL, highlighted that this is the first time small arms technology from the UAE is being transferred to India. He expressed pride in contributing to India’s defense industry, especially with successful testing from special forces and army trials.

This facility plays an important role in India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) and Make in India initiatives, combining international technology with local manufacturing skills. The addition of these advanced weapons not only strengthens India’s defense capabilities but also boosts its position as a trusted global defense production hub.
