Empowering Students: How Montclair State University’s Green Teams Drive Environmental Solutions and Sustainability

In this milestone year, the PSEG Institute for Sustainability Studies is celebrating ten years of the Green Teams program. This initiative brings together college students from across the U.S. to tackle pressing environmental issues right here in New Jersey. Projects range from flood management techniques to improving urban greenery and promoting regenerative agriculture.

This summer, a new cohort of 50 interns from 33 universities will work on ten impactful projects. These students will address urgent challenges such as:

• Flood risk management using GIS technology in Paterson.
• Developing microforests in urban areas.
• Enhancing climate-smart infrastructures with local corporations.
• Job training for adults with autism through tech innovation.
• Restoring schoolyards to create food forests.
