Hi, I’m Tim Hammerich from the Ag Information Network, bringing you the latest on the future of farming.
The Mosaic Company has just updated its foundation to focus on sustainable food systems. Now called The Mosaic Company Foundation for Sustainable Food Systems, it aims to help farmers boost their yields, improve soil health, and protect our water resources.
According to Adam Herges from Mosaic, this revitalized foundation is dedicated to supporting small family farmers. They plan to develop and promote better nutrient management practices for agriculture.
Herges explains the pressing challenges farmers face today. He notes, “We’re seeing weather changes with more intense storms, as well as severe droughts and flooding. We needed to reshape the foundation’s focus to enhance the resilience of our food systems. This way, we can ensure farmers remain prosperous and continue to produce quality food for future generations.”
In the U.S., over 90% of farms are family-run, highlighting the importance of supporting these smallholders. By improving farming practices, we can work towards sustainable food production that benefits both farmers and the environment.
The foundation’s new direction is a vital step in tackling agricultural challenges and ensuring sustainable practices are available to all. For more insights, please visit their website: Mosaic Company Foundation.
