Community Committee Chair, Councillor Julie Fairey, emphasizes the role these grants play. She says, “Communities are showing energy and creativity. These grants empower those directly involved in emergency preparations, ecosystem restoration, and youth activities.”

One standout initiative is the Te Ara Urutau Climate and Emergency Ready Fund. It has distributed over $1.7 million to more than 70 community organizations. This funding assists projects focused on climate adaptation and emergency preparedness, especially after the severe weather events that hit some Auckland neighborhoods.
