This past Saturday, the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center hosted a free event called Frost Fest. It focused on mental health resources for veterans and their families.

The Southeastern Wisconsin Veteran Suicide Prevention Task Force organized this annual event in collaboration with the War Memorial Center. It aimed to connect veterans with essential information and services.

At Frost Fest, veterans found resource tables offering information on various health services. Topics included VA benefits, housing, mental health support, counseling, recovery, and even service dogs. All these resources are crucial for veterans seeking help.

Sean Clark, the program director at the War Memorial Center, mentioned, “Many veterans aren’t used to asking for help. When they come to an event like this, with a festive atmosphere, it encourages them to engage.” He highlighted that such events create a comfortable space for veterans to seek answers they might not otherwise feel comfortable asking.

The event was lively, with vendors showcasing arts, crafts, games, and even offering on-site holistic services like acupuncture. This variety created a welcoming space for veterans and their families to gather and explore their options.
