Empowering Women in the Environment Sector: Join the New Initiative Connecting Female Leaders in Sustainability

The Women’s Environmental Group (WEG) is a fresh initiative aimed at connecting women in the environmental sector. It’s a space for collaboration and support as we address vital environmental issues together.

Our founding partners are the Environment Journal and Milestone Environmental Contracting, along with promotional partners like ECO Canada and Environmental Risk Information Services (ERIS).

WEG will utilize our existing networks to fulfill our goals. This means regular participation from our partners with six meetings each year and teamwork for events and projects.

To kick off our activities, here’s what we have planned:

  1. We will communicate our launch in January and February 2025.
  2. An organizational meeting is scheduled for February 5th.
  3. We’ll have a kick-off meeting on March 6th, just before International Women’s Day. This event will include introductory speeches, networking, a guest speaker, and discussions on future steps.

Women in the Industry

We are excited to announce that Judy Lam, an accomplished leader from the City of Hamilton, will be our featured speaker. Judy holds an MBA and several professional designations, and she brings a wealth of experience to our discussions.

During our meetings, we will focus on:

  • Mentorship opportunities
  • Networking for early-career professionals
  • Training and development sessions
