This exciting project helps Airbus create a robust platform in its Paris PMR network, combining multicast features with a core network, a radio access network (RAN), and Agnet, Airbus’s MCX application for critical communications.
ENENSYS Technologies has unveiled its eMBMS/multicast solution for Airbus’s Private Mobile Network, focused on public safety and security.
In less than three months, ENENSYS rolled out its complete eMBMS/multicast solution at Airbus. This significant development enhances the Parisian PMR (private mobile radio network) by integrating multicast with various network components.
A Clever Solution for Critical Needs
The multicast/eMBMS technology from ENENSYS makes better use of radio resources and bandwidth. It ensures that multiple users can communicate at the same time without issues. This is especially important during emergencies when quick, simultaneous exchanges like audio and video calls, as well as file sharing, are needed. It significantly reduces network congestion, a common problem with traditional point-to-point communication.
A Comprehensive Solution
The eMBMS system at Airbus includes two main software elements:
- MediaCast Mobile: The core server for eMBMS/multicast, installed in Airbus’s mobile network.
- CubeAgent Mobile: The client on various Crosscall Core-X5 devices that works with the Agnet application.
These features greatly improve bandwidth efficiency and address the rising demands of critical communications.
David Montillet, a Senior Solution Architect at Airbus, shared:

Even with broader bandwidths, this optimization is vital, especially with new multimedia uses like video calls. Multicast has evolved from TETRA systems to newer networks like LTE and 5G, providing significant operational benefits. It’s essential to consider optimization from the start when designing a network. The swift deployment of ENENSYS’s eMBMS/multicast solution with Agnet is a great step toward understanding and expanding this technology.”
Anthony Do Couto, director of ENENSYS’s Critical Communication unit, noted:
