Enhancing Motorcycle Safety and Security: Join Our Expert Mechanic Training Program for West African Riders!

West Africa is becoming an exciting market for Honda, especially in Ghana. With a population of about 34.12 million and a land area nearly two-thirds that of Japan, Ghana stands out as a key player in the region. It’s well-known for its cocoa production, mining of precious metals, and oil extraction.

Honda established its foothold in Ghana in April 2019 through Honda Motor Southern Africa (Pty.) Ltd. – Ghana (HSAF-G). This initiative aims to strengthen Honda’s presence and value in the West African market.

Despite its small team of just three expatriates and four local members, HSAF-G is actively engaging with distributors across seven West African countries to expand Honda’s customer base and improve service quality.

One pressing issue in the region is the reliance on roadside mechanics for motorcycle repairs. While these mechanics offer affordable services, many lack proper training and quality parts. This can leave customers with unfinished or faulty repairs. HSAF-G is tackling this problem by training local mechanics, ensuring they can deliver trustworthy service and boosting Honda’s official dealership presence.

Kenta Aoki, who leads development initiatives at HSAF-G, has made significant strides through the “Aoki Juku” motorcycle service training program. This program allows local mechanics to work alongside authorized dealers to learn the right techniques and standards. They also undergo skill assessments, earning accreditation for their achievements.

A recent survey indicated that nearly 70% of motorcycle users in Ghana prefer authorized service centers, signaling a growing demand for quality repair work. This trend points to a promising future for Honda in the region, as more customers seek reliable service options.

By enhancing the skills of mechanics through programs like Aoki Juku, Honda is positioning itself as a leader in quality service and customer trust in West Africa.
