Entrepreneurs Showcase Their Innovative Businesses at the El Dorado Food Festival | Eldorado News

Candley’s Cookin’ hosted the El Dorado Tri-State Food Truck Festival last Saturday, drawing food trucks and crafty vendors from across several states, including Louisiana, Tennessee, Texas, and Arkansas.

Vendors shared their stories and inspirations. Saquita Taylor, from Texas, shared her journey after surviving a serious health scare. “Last year, I had pulmonary embolism,” she said. “I lost my life twice. That made me realize this is my chance.” Saquita started her business, A Second Chance, creating customized shirts and various crafts.

Neil Bowen, representing Comfort Food Zone from Memphis, emphasized the heart of southern comfort food. “We serve big portions regardless of inflation,” he explained. “It’s about giving the people what they pay for.” Their menu features everything from chicken wings to unique lamb Philly sandwiches.

Another entrepreneur, Precious Charlie, introduced her candle line, A Precious Flame Candle Company. “I started in November 2024 but wasn’t satisfied with my initial candles,” she noted. Precious upgraded her product by switching to wood wicks, which help maintain scent longer. Her jars are designed to be reusable, and she offers refill kits for convenience.

Ernesto Dovar, the owner of MC Gorditas, shared his dream of building a Mexican food business. After selling hamburgers in his youth, he found his passion. “I hope to expand my food truck into restaurants one day,” he said of his venture based out of Lonoke, Arkansas.

Food festivals like this are essential beyond just the tasty bites. According to a survey by the National Food Truck Association, the food truck industry has grown by over 15% in the past five years. It’s a space where small businesses can thrive, connect, and share their unique stories.

Many attendees took to social media to share their favorites from the festival, solidifying these events as vibrant community gatherings where local talents shine.
