Recently, a GoFundMe campaign to support Eric Dane’s daughters gained attention after being verified by the organization. Initially, funds were put on hold while the Trust and Safety team reviewed the details. Concerns arose because the campaign did not list a specific organizer and it wasn’t clear how the funds would help Dane’s family. Following this review, his widow, Rebecca Gayheart, was confirmed as the beneficiary.
This fundraiser launched after Dane’s death on February 19, which sparked a wave of tributes and donations. The campaign was created by friends of the family, aiming to raise $500,000 to support Dane’s daughters, Billie and Georgia, aged 15 and 14. As of now, over $300,000 has been raised by approximately 3,200 donors.
Eric Dane was well-known for his roles in shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria. He passed away after fighting amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) at the age of 53. The emotional impact of his loss was felt widely, with many industry colleagues expressing their condolences.
Notably, Sam Levinson, the creator of Euphoria, and his wife, Ashley, made a significant contribution of $27,000. Levinson shared heartfelt reflections on Dane, stating, “Working with him was an honor. Being his friend was a gift.” This illustrates the deep connections Dane had with those around him.
The outpouring of support highlights how communities come together in times of loss, reflecting a long-standing tradition of supporting those in need. Fundraisers like this remind us of the power of collective kindness and the lasting impact of individuals on their families and friends.
