Recent Border Clashes: Thailand and Cambodia Escalate Tensions

Over the years, Thailand and Cambodia’s relationship has been complicated. They share a long, historically tense border. Previous incidents have led to casualties and significant political consequences in both countries. In 2011, for instance, fighting over the Preah Vihear Temple left at least 20 people dead and caused mass displacement.
