GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Agriculture’s Consumer Health Services Division inspects food establishments across the state, especially in areas without local health departments. These inspections aim to protect the health of Wyoming residents.
In Campbell County, food establishments are inspected at least once a year. The results of these inspections are public and can be accessed on the WDA’s website. Only routine inspections are included in these reports, so follow-up inspections are not shown.
Establishments can receive two types of violations: non-critical (not directly related to food safety) and critical (which might lead to foodborne illnesses). The main purpose of these inspections is education. The WDA focuses on helping businesses understand unsafe practices and how to improve.
Every violation means a business is out of compliance, but not all violations indicate that a place is unsafe. Inspections offer a snapshot in time. Often, violations are resolved right before the inspector leaves. Depending on the severity, businesses can have 10 to 45 days to fix issues.
Any serious violations will be noted in summary comments, and detailed reports for each establishment can be found on the WDA’s website.
