Colin Butfield, a well-known environmental storyteller and producer, recently engaged students at Bohunt School. He shared exciting stories from his collaborations with Sir David Attenborough and Prince William. He focused on the art of storytelling, explaining how it can raise awareness about climate issues.
After his talk, the students took part in an interactive project where they acted as a production team. They got a taste of the challenges involved in bringing important environmental stories to life, based on Butfield’s upcoming work with Attenborough.
Butfield is not just an inspiring speaker. He serves as the Executive Producer of The Earthshot Prize: Repairing Our Planet and has a strong background as the former Director of Campaigns at WWF. With many years of experience, he has led global efforts to combat pressing environmental problems.
As part of the Bohunt Scholars’ Speakers series, led by Owen Godfrey, Butfield’s visit aimed to inspire students by introducing them to leaders in various fields.
He shared an important message: “What happens in the next 20 years will determine the future stability of our planet. Speaking with students who are passionate about their world was truly a privilege. Most careers will connect to climate change and restoring nature. It’s great to see Bohunt encouraging discussions on these vital subjects.”
Randall Jull, Head of School, thanked Butfield for his inspiring words to the students, who are the future caretakers of our planet.
After the event, student Arabelle expressed her desire to pursue a career focused on improving the environment and protecting wildlife. She felt motivated to make a difference, showing how impactful Butfield’s talk was.
