Kansas Baseball is making history this year by hosting the NCAA Regionals at Hoglund Ballpark for the first time ever. This exciting event takes place from May 29 to June 1. Fans can look forward to a double-elimination format, with up to seven games scheduled.
Improvements at Hoglund Ballpark have raised its capacity by 60%, accommodating around 4,000 fans. The area behind left field, affectionately called “The Backyard,” welcomes lawn chairs but prohibits outside food. Concessions will be available for all attendees.
Recent renovations include a new space for the visiting team’s bullpen, which is now located beneath the Rich Jantz Player Development Center. This change opens up the previous bullpen area for standing-room fans, complete with a tent and access to drinks and snacks. To enhance safety, protective netting has also been installed along the third base line.
With the increase in capacity, the concourse area has expanded, allowing for additional restrooms and food truck options. All transactions at concessions will be cashless, so credit cards only will be accepted.
Tickets for the Regionals can be purchased for single games or for the entire session. Reserved seating will be available, with prices ranging from $25 for “The Backyard” to $50 for chairback seats. Students can claim free tickets (up to the first 130) with a valid KU ID, or purchase them for $10 after that.
Parking is free in several nearby lots, although traffic patterns will change during game days. Fans with RVs need to email for overnight arrangements.
Moreover, the Crimson Club in Allen Fieldhouse will screen the games, allowing fans to enjoy them without needing a ticket. Gates open two hours before the first pitch, and there are great options for tailgating fans.
As excitement builds around this historic event, it’s worth noting that Kansas baseball has shown significant growth, not just in attendance but in talent. The program has been advancing under Coach Fitzgerald’s leadership, combining effective recruitment strategies with a strong support network.
Watching the social media buzz surrounding this event, it’s clear fans are fired up. Posts celebrating Kansas athletics are trending, showcasing community pride and excitement.
As we gather to cheer on the Jayhawks, it’s great to see the baseball program make strides that resonate not just within the team, but throughout the Lawrence community. For more details on tickets and schedules, visit KUAthletics.com.
