The 2026 NFL draft wrapped up with Red Murdock being the last pick, earning the title of Mr. Irrelevant. Georgia had its final player selected in the sixth round, with Micah Morris being the eighth Georgia player drafted this year.
Under coach Kirby Smart, Georgia has seen an impressive 84 players drafted in the last decade. Notably, 30 of the 32 NFL teams have chosen a player from Georgia, with only the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders not selecting any.
This draft was particularly notable as Georgia had just one first-round pick: Monroe Freeling, taken by the Carolina Panthers at No. 19. He is the sixth offensive tackle from Georgia to be picked in the first round during Smart’s tenure.
Over the past ten years, Georgia has churned out 21 first-round picks while losing only 21 games, contributing to its four SEC championships and two national titles.
The second night proved busiest for Georgia with five players selected. The New Orleans Saints drafted defensive tackle Christen Miller and tight end Oscar Delp, marking the fifth time in six drafts that multiple Bulldogs were picked by the same team.
Linebacker CJ Allen was chosen by the Indianapolis Colts as their first selection, and wide receiver Zachariah Branch stayed in the Peach State, picked up by the Atlanta Falcons in the third round. The Falcons now have selected a Georgia player in three consecutive drafts. Atlanta GM Ian Cunningham praised Georgia’s consistent talent pool, expressing excitement for scouting future Bulldogs.
Daylen Everette rounded out Georgia’s draft selections in the third round, landing with the Pittsburgh Steelers, while Colbie Young was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the fourth round. With Young’s selection, Georgia tied with Ohio State and LSU for the most wide receivers selected since the 2019 NFL draft, with nine.
The Philadelphia Eagles added to their roster with Morris, making him the seventh Georgia player selected in the last five drafts. Overall, Georgia had eight players chosen this year, placing it among the top drafting schools. Ohio State led with 11 selections, while Texas A&M and Alabama had ten each.
Georgia’s record of 15 players in a single draft, set in 2022, remains intact. This year’s draft was distinct as it didn’t feature multiple first-round picks for the first time since 2021.
Last season, Georgia finished 12-2 and captured the SEC championship but fell short in the College Football Playoff against Ole Miss. Looking ahead, 2027 could be even brighter with potential first-round picks like safety KJ Bolden, cornerback Ellis Robinson, and linebacker Chris Cole returning.
As Georgia prepares for its 2026 season opener against Tennessee State on September 5, fans are eager to see how these young talents will develop in the upcoming year.
