CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Cheyenne-Laramie County Health Department keeps a close watch on local food establishments, including restaurants, bars, and grocery stores. They conduct surprise inspections at least twice a year to ensure safety and cleanliness.
There are two main types of violations: “red critical violations” and “black violations.” Critical violations are serious issues that can lead to foodborne illnesses, while non-critical violations are usually about cleanliness or facility upkeep.
The health department aims to fix critical violations immediately or within 24 hours. For non-critical violations, establishments may not need to correct them until their next scheduled inspection.
If a place fails to address issues and a reinspection is needed, they have 10 days to make corrections. The focus of these inspections is not just to find problems but also to educate businesses on safe practices.
In addition to inspection results, serious violations or notable quotes are included in the summary. For the full inspection reports of each restaurant, check the health department’s website.
