We wanted to share some important updates about the Spiritforged presale on the Riot Merch store. We know many of you faced challenges during the event, and we appreciate your patience.
Here’s the scoop:
- We heard your feedback. Instead of “First Come, First Served,” we’re now using a drawing system for Spiritforged products.
- The drawing will be open for 48 hours, giving everyone a fair chance to get in.
- If your name is drawn, you’ll have time to make your purchase. If you don’t buy within that time, we’ll draw another name.
- We’re committed to making your experience better and are open to ongoing improvements.
Now, let’s dive deeper into what went wrong and how we’re fixing it.
The Spiritforged preorder didn’t meet expectations. Despite having about 50% more products than before, demand was much higher. Our “First Come, First Served” approach meant that bots targeted the site, overwhelming it and preventing many legitimate players from securing their orders.
As player advocates ourselves, we understand how disappointing this can be. Many users took to social media to express their frustrations, with hashtags like #RiftboundFail trending during the presale. People felt they were at a disadvantage against automated systems, and we took this seriously.
Moving forward, we’re introducing a drawing system to ensure fairness. This change will reduce the impact of bots, allowing more genuine players to access our products. In fact, online shopping surveys show that 75% of consumers prefer a fair, equitable shopping experience over a hectic race to checkout.
The drawing system will launch at 9 AM Pacific on February 3rd. Here’s what you need to know:
- You can enter each product drawing with your Riot Account. Enter for one, two, or all three products, but only once per drawing.
- Once the drawing closes on February 5th, we’ll notify winners by sending purchase links starting on February 9th.
- You’ll have 24 hours to make your purchase. If you miss it, we’ll notify the next player drawn.
