“Ex-Dolphins Star Demands Mike McDaniel’s Job After Thursday Night Football Disappointment”

Fans of the Miami Dolphins are restless after the team’s recent loss to the Baltimore Ravens, where they were beaten 28-6. Many are calling for a coaching shakeup, including former Dolphins player Richie Incognito Jr. He played for the team between 2010 and 2013 and urged team owner Stephen Ross to make significant changes. After the Dolphins dropped to a dismal 2-7 record, Incognito tweeted, “This team’s quit on Mike McDaniel. Time for Mr. Ross to clean house and reset the culture.”

Incognito’s comments carry weight, given his past with the team—he was notably involved in the bullying scandal back in 2013. Interestingly, he never played under current head coach Mike McDaniel, who took over in 2022.

Ian Rapoport from NFL Network mentioned on a pregame show that McDaniel’s job is now in jeopardy. He stated that while Ross likes McDaniel, the coach will be judged on how well the team responds to him moving forward. “Do they keep playing for him, or do they not? That will determine whether he keeps his job,” Rapoport said.

Despite the mounting pressure, just a week earlier, Rapoport indicated that Ross had no immediate plans to fire McDaniel. He had discussed moving forward with the coach after a 31-6 loss to the Browns.

In the recent game, the Dolphins struggled greatly. They scored only on two field goals by kicker Riley Patterson, from 49 and 43 yards. Meanwhile, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, returning from injury, easily dominated the Dolphins’ defense, throwing for 204 yards and four touchdowns.

After the game, a visibly frustrated McDaniel acknowledged the fans’ disappointment. “It sucks,” he said. “Our expectation is that we have to do the work and give fans something to cheer about.”

The Dolphins have a crucial matchup next week against the Buffalo Bills, a game that many fans hope will mark a turnaround for the struggling team.

The current state of the Dolphins echoes trends in the NFL, where coaching changes often follow disappointing seasons. Historical patterns show that teams frequently revamp coaching staff to shake up team morale. For instance, in the 2021 season, multiple teams opted for new leadership after struggling seasons, which created a ripple effect throughout the league.

For Dolphins fans, the coming weeks are essential. As they face the Bills, the question remains: Can McDaniel motivate this team to show improvement, or are bigger changes on the horizon?
