Ian Rapoport from NFL Network mentioned on a pregame show that McDaniel’s job is now in jeopardy. He stated that while Ross likes McDaniel, the coach will be judged on how well the team responds to him moving forward. “Do they keep playing for him, or do they not? That will determine whether he keeps his job,” Rapoport said.
Despite the mounting pressure, just a week earlier, Rapoport indicated that Ross had no immediate plans to fire McDaniel. He had discussed moving forward with the coach after a 31-6 loss to the Browns.
In the recent game, the Dolphins struggled greatly. They scored only on two field goals by kicker Riley Patterson, from 49 and 43 yards. Meanwhile, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, returning from injury, easily dominated the Dolphins’ defense, throwing for 204 yards and four touchdowns.
After the game, a visibly frustrated McDaniel acknowledged the fans’ disappointment. “It sucks,” he said. “Our expectation is that we have to do the work and give fans something to cheer about.”
