Ex-India World Cup Winner Sets the Record Straight on Virat Kohli’s Controversial Remarks | Cricket News

Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa recently stirred up a conversation in cricket circles with his comments about star batter Virat Kohli. In an interview with Lallantop, Uthappa suggested that Kohli may not have treated Yuvraj Singh well towards the end of Yuvraj’s career, claiming he didn’t receive a proper farewell. He also hinted that Kohli played a role in Ambati Rayudu being left out of India’s 2019 ODI World Cup squad.

These remarks sparked a lot of debate online, leading to some negative feedback directed at Uthappa. In response, he posted a clarification on his YouTube channel, saying his words were misunderstood. “I’m just sharing my opinion, like everyone else. I’ve faced criticism before, but I value open discussions,” he explained.

Uthappa took the opportunity to praise Kohli, calling him one of the greatest white-ball players. He emphasized that his earlier comments were about Kohli’s leadership style, not his character. “I hold Virat in high regard as a player. He’s among the best ODI batters. I believe he has at least three more years left in him if he stays motivated,” Uthappa shared.

Regarding Yuvraj Singh, Uthappa expressed that the legendary all-rounder deserved a fitting send-off. “I wasn’t discussing Yuvraj’s comeback; I meant he should have received the farewell he earned. Stars like Rohit and Virat get celebrated, and I think Yuvraj deserved that too, regardless of his form,” he stated. Uthappa believes it’s important to honor our cricketing legends, highlighting that they should be celebrated for their contributions to the sport.
