A mistrial was announced recently in the case of Rashaun Jones, a former University of Miami football player accused of killing his teammate Bryan Pata. This tragic case, which has remained unsolved for 15 years, shocked the Miami Hurricanes community.
The jury had been deliberating since Thursday, trying to decide if Jones shot Pata outside his apartment on November 7, 2006. When the jury reported a deadlock, Judge Cristina Miranda declared a mistrial. Pata’s family, especially his mother, felt heartbroken. His brother, Edwin, shared the frustration of the entire family, emphasizing how painful this situation is for everyone involved.
