Bethune-Cookman Football’s 2025 Season Preview
Bethune-Cookman Football is gearing up for an exciting 2025 season under head coach Raymond Woodie Jr. The Wildcats will face a tough schedule that includes five home games at Daytona Stadium and several challenging away matches, culminating in the much-anticipated Florida Blue Florida Classic against Florida A&M.
The season kicks off on August 30 with an away game against Florida International at Pitbull Stadium. The Wildcats will be aiming to reclaim their past success against the Panthers, having beaten them 14-12 in their last meeting back in 2014. The Panthers have a new coach, Willie Simmons, who previously led Florida A&M to a successful record.
In week two, the Wildcats will travel to Miami to face the University of Miami. This match will be the eighth in their rivalry since 2011. Their last game against the Hurricanes was in 2023.
The following week, Bethune-Cookman will head to South Carolina to play South Carolina State. This historic rivalry dates back to 1959 and has seen the Wildcats and Bulldogs compete 58 times, with South Carolina State currently leading the series 34-24.
The Wildcats’ home opener takes place on September 20 against Edward Waters. The last time these two teams met was in 2010, where Bethune-Cookman enjoyed a decisive 70-10 victory.
As they enter Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play, the Wildcats will host Alabama A&M. In their last meeting at Daytona Stadium, Bethune-Cookman secured a solid 31-14 win.
After a bye week, the Wildcats will engage in seven consecutive games. This includes a much-anticipated matchup on October 11 when Southern University visits Daytona Beach for the first time since 1988. Their last encounter was a nail-biting five-overtime game that ended in a 25-23 loss for the Wildcats.
Homecoming is scheduled for October 25, when Arkansas-Pine Bluff will come to take on the Wildcats for the first time in the SWAC. This will also mark the first meeting since 2005, a game the Wildcats won 31-17.
November will start with an exciting game against Mississippi Valley State, and the Wildcats are on a three-game winning streak against the Delta Devils, including last year’s victory during MVSU’s homecoming.
The season wraps up with away games at Grambling State and defending SWAC champions Jackson State. The critical Florida Blue Florida Classic against FAMU will take place on November 22 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
As fans counting down the days to the season opener, excitement is palpable. The addition of new coaches and players could bring fresh energy to the Wildcats, making this season one to watch.
