Ella Langley is making waves in country music with her hit song “You Look Like You Love Me.” She tops the nominations for the upcoming 2025 Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards, boasting nine nods. This impressive feat was revealed just recently.
Hot on her heels are Lainey Wilson, Cody Johnson, and Morgan Wallen, each with eight nominations. Chris Stapleton follows with six, while Post Malone and Riley Green have five, and Kelsea Ballerini rounds out the list with four.
The ACMs allow for up to seven nominees for the prestigious Entertainer of the Year award, and Wilson, the 2024 champion, is again in the running. Her competitors this year include Johnson, Wallen, Stapleton, Ballerini, Luke Combs, and Jelly Roll.
Set for May 8 in Frisco, Texas, this year’s ACMs will be hosted by the legendary Reba McEntire. Fans can catch the live event on Prime Video.
The nomination process for the ACMs is unique. Unlike other shows like the Grammys, the ACMs permit artists to receive multiple nominations for a single entry if they contributed as writers or producers too. For example, Langley is up for six awards while also being recognized as a co-writer and director for her hit. This approach helped several nominees increase their counts, with only Johnson achieving all his nominations as an artist.
Most of Langley’s nominations come from her breakout single, “You Look Like You Love Me.” This duet with Riley Green really put her on the map in a male-dominated genre. She has nominations for Female Artist of the Year, New Female Artist of the Year, and several for her hit, including Single of the Year and Song of the Year.
The Female Artist of the Year category highlights a new wave of talent, featuring Langley along with Wilson, Ballerini, Megan Moroney, and Kacey Musgraves. Meanwhile, the Male Artist of the Year category sees familiar names like Johnson, Wallen, Stapleton, Combs, and Jelly Roll.
In a nod to the changing landscape of country music, album nominations include Moroney’s “Am I Okay? (I’ll Be Fine),” Jelly Roll’s “Beautifully Broken,” and Wilson’s “Whirlwind,” among others. Interestingly, Beyoncé, known for her crossover appeal, did not receive any nominations this year despite her album "Cowboy Carter" winning at the Grammys.
The Single of the Year race features contenders like Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and the Langley and Green collaboration “You Look Like You Love Me.”
This year’s ACMs appear to have less competition than last year, as the CMT Music Awards will not be held, leaving country fans with a clear focus on the ACMs until the CMAs arrive in November.
