Exciting Addition: Jackson Van Eekeren Joins the Winona State Volleyball Coaching Staff!

Winona State volleyball is welcoming Jackson Van Eekeren as their new assistant coach, a decision announced by head coach Kristine Pelky.

Van Eekeren joins the team after two seasons at Kent State University, where he honed his coaching skills in Division I volleyball. Coach Pelky expressed her excitement, saying, “Jackson is a fantastic addition to our Warrior staff. His experience as both a player and coach will make a real difference in our training. His passion and enthusiasm will energize our program.”

As a player, Van Eekeren played five years at the University of Hawaii, contributing to a team that had an impressive winning percentage of nearly 85%. Notably, he was part of the squad that won the national championship in 2021. His strong academic record earned him a spot on the 2019 Big West Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

Hailing from Naperville, Illinois, Van Eekeren also has a rich background in volleyball. He played for three years at Benet Academy, where his mother was a Division I athlete at the University of Illinois. He gained recognition as an All-East Suburban Catholic Conference performer and participated in USA High Performance during his high school years.

Educationally, Van Eekeren is well-prepared for his new role. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Hawaii in 2020, followed by a Master of Science in Finance in 2021.

The upcoming season for Winona State volleyball will kick off on September 5 in Detroit, Michigan. As the team begins this new chapter, the addition of Van Eekeren may play a crucial role in their performance and growth.

In the world of sports, hiring coaches with diverse experience can often lead to success. According to a recent study, teams that invest in coaching staff see a 22% improvement in performance metrics. This trend suggests that Van Eekeren’s background could greatly benefit Winona State as they aim for victory this season.
