Apple is gearing up to launch a new MacBook powered by the A18 Pro chip. This model aims to attract customers looking for a budget-friendly option. According to recent reports from Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, we can expect an announcement in March, showcasing a variety of colors.
Unlike previous MacBooks that heavily rely on Apple’s Silicon chips, this new model will feature the A18 Pro chip from the iPhone 16 series. Although this isn’t as powerful as the chips found in the higher-end MacBooks, it still offers solid performance, comparable to the original M1 chip that debuted in earlier models.
The display is projected to be just under 13 inches, likely around 12.9 inches. Notably, Apple has decided to stick with aluminum for the shell instead of opting for plastic, which is often seen in cheaper devices. They’ve developed a new manufacturing process that is both faster and cost-effective, making it easier to produce.
When it comes to colors, Apple is experimenting with some unique options. While the final choices haven’t been confirmed yet, reports mention light yellow, light green, blue, pink, classic silver, and dark gray.
This upcoming MacBook could significantly lower the entry price point into the Apple ecosystem, possibly starting at around $699. That’s much cheaper than the current MacBook Air, usually priced at $999, although discounts do pop up frequently.
To put this into perspective, according to recent statistics, more consumers are looking for affordable tech options, especially in a challenging economy. A survey by Pew Research found that about 45% of Americans are considering budget-friendly devices because of financial constraints.
