ATHENS, Ohio – Slade Larscheid has been named the new Director of Athletics at Ohio University. President Lori Stewart Gonzalez announced this exciting news, highlighting Larscheid’s impressive background in collegiate athletics.
“In our search, we met many talented candidates, which shows the positive direction Ohio University is heading,” Gonzalez said. “Slade brings a wealth of experience in enhancing student-athlete experiences, promoting academic success, and driving revenue. We’re confident he will help us continue to grow.”
Slade Larscheid has been appointed as the new Director of Athletics at Ohio University.
“We welcome Slade and his family to the Bobcat Family,” said Gonzalez.
Larscheid comes from South Dakota State University, where he was the Deputy Director of Athletics since 2020. He managed daily operations for 19 sports and over 500 student-athletes. With degrees in communications and sports administration from Northwestern University, he was also recognized as an academic All-Big Ten football player.
“Ohio University has a vibrant spirit, and I’m excited to contribute to its unique culture,” Larscheid said. “The community’s support for athletics is incredible, and I’m eager to help our teams succeed while representing our school with pride.”
At South Dakota State, he was instrumental in boosting revenue, overseeing fundraising, ticket sales, and marketing. His leadership helped the Jackrabbits achieve back-to-back FCS National Championships in football in 2022 and 2023.
Before his role at SDSU, Larscheid served as Director of Athletics at Augustana University, where his teams also had notable successes, including an NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship in 2016. His extensive experience includes positions at Northern Illinois University and the University of South Dakota.
“We are excited about the fresh energy that Slade will bring to Ohio Athletics,” said Matthew Evans, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “This marks a new chapter for our athletics program, and we look forward to his leadership.”
A native of Spearfish, South Dakota, Larscheid lives with his wife Stephanie and their four children: Mark, Samantha, Trace, and Jo.
