Exciting April Kickoff: Wheeling University Baseball Battles #9 CAL-U in Midweek Showdown!

Wheeling, W. Va. – Last weekend, the Wheeling University Baseball team struggled in Mountain East Conference (MEC) play, ending the month of March with four losses. Now, as April begins, they’re eager to turn things around. Their next challenge is a road game against the ranked #9 CAL-U on Tuesday at 1 PM.

In their recent doubleheader against Glenville State, Wheeling showed flashes of promise but couldn’t secure a win. In the first game, they briefly led 2-1, but Glenville responded with a strong sequence of runs to end the game 7-2. The second game was tighter, with both teams tied until Glenville scored late, resulting in a 3-2 victory for them.

Despite the tough weekend, some players stood out. Spencer Craig had an impressive performance, going 4-for-7 with a run and an RBI across both games. He has been hitting well lately, boasting a .307 batting average for the season, leading the team in offensive stats. Another bright spot was Nicolas Ancelet, who achieved a .600 batting average over the weekend, securing crucial hits and a stolen base.
