Exciting Beatles Biopic Casting: Anna Sawai and Aimee Lou Wood Eye Iconic Roles as Yoko Ono and Pattie Boyd!

“Shogun” star Anna Sawai and Aimee Lou Wood from “The White Lotus” are in talks to play Yoko Ono and Pattie Boyd in a new four-part biopic about The Beatles, directed by Sam Mendes.

Yoko Ono, John Lennon’s widow, inspired much of his artistry. If the deals go through, Sawai will appear alongside Harrison Dickinson, who portrays Lennon. Lennon was famously shot outside their home in New York City.

Pattie Boyd met George Harrison on the set of “A Hard Day’s Night” when she was just 19. They married in 1966, but their relationship fell apart after the Beatles disbanded in 1970. Boyd later married musician Eric Clapton. Recently, she expressed excitement about the possibility of Wood playing her, saying it’s “big news” and she hopes to meet Wood soon.

While these roles are not yet confirmed, Mendes is moving forward with his vision. Paul Mescal will play Paul McCartney, with Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr. Saoirse Ronan and Mia McKenna-Bruce will portray McCartney’s first wife, Linda, and Starr’s first wife, Maureen, respectively.

Mendes aims to tell the Beatles’ story from each member’s perspective, exploring their journey from Liverpool to global fame and their eventual breakup in 1970. The series is set to launch in April 2028, offering what Sony Pictures calls a “binge-able theatrical experience.”

This project is groundbreaking; McCartney, Starr, and the families of Lennon and Harrison have granted full music and life story rights for the films, marking the first time the band has endorsed such projects.

Mendes shared his excitement for the journey: “I’m honored to tell the story of the greatest rock band of all time.”

Anna Sawai, at 33, rose to fame as a singer in Japan and has recently won an Emmy for her lead role in “Shogun.” Aimee Lou Wood, 31, became known for her part in the Netflix show “Sex Education” and earned an Emmy nomination for “The White Lotus.”

As public interest in Beatles-related content continues to grow, this biopic reflects a wider trend. Recent surveys show that nostalgia for classic rock bands is on the rise, especially among younger generations. The Beatles remain iconic, inspiring countless tributes and reinterpretations in music and media today.
