Exciting CBS Renewals: NCIS, Matlock, and 8 More Shows Confirmed! But Which Series Are Still Facing Uncertainty?

CBS has exciting news for fans as they renew ten shows, including “Matlock” and “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage,” both returning for their third seasons. The network also extends contracts for “Elsbeth,” “NCIS: Sydney,” and “Tracker,” which will all enter their fourth seasons. Long-running favorites like “NCIS” (Season 24), “Fire Country” (Season 5), and “The Amazing Race” and “Survivor” continue.

Previously renewed shows such as “FBI” (Season 9) and “Ghosts” (Season 6) will be back, alongside promising new series like “Boston Blue” and “Sheriff Country,” both heading into their second seasons.

Looking ahead, CBS is introducing two new shows for the 2026-27 season: “Cupertino,” a drama set in Silicon Valley featuring Mike Colter, and “Einstein,” a procedural that focuses on Albert Einstein’s great-grandson, portrayed by Matthew Gray Gubler.

With all this news, only two scripted shows—comedy “DMV” and drama “Watson”—are uncertain about their futures. CBS is also set to launch two new dramas soon: “CIA,” expanding the FBI universe with Tom Ellis and Gehlfuss, and “Marshals,” a spin-off from “Yellowstone” starring Luke Grimes.

The network’s renewals reflect a strategy to keep engaging content on air, tapping into familiar themes while also introducing fresh stories.

In terms of trends, data from recent surveys show that audience interest in procedural dramas remains strong, with a significant portion of viewers preferring series with established characters and narratives. This could explain CBS’s focus on renewals and its confidence in long-running franchises.
