Exciting Changes Ahead: Chris Parsons Takes the Helm as Husson’s New Athletic Director

Husson University is set to welcome Christopher S. Parsons as its new Athletic Director starting in late August. Parsons brings rich experience, especially from his current role as chair of the North Atlantic Conference Administrative Executive Committee.

He graduated from Thomas College in 1998 and has spent 14 years there. He began as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach in 2011, later becoming the Director of Athletics in July 2020. By August 2022, he was promoted to Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics.

As a student-athlete, Parsons was a standout soccer player. He led his team to victory in the Maine Athletic Conference Championship in 1995 and received multiple accolades, including two-time All-New England and All-State honors. In his senior year, he earned an honorable mention as an All-American.

Husson’s President Lynne Coy-Ogan expressed excitement about Parsons’ hiring, highlighting his data-driven approach to decision-making. This is crucial for the university’s mission.

Parsons also shared his enthusiasm for this new role, thanking President Coy-Ogan and Vice President Chris Grotton for their support. He looks forward to collaborating with coaches and staff to ensure continued success for Husson Athletics.

Replacing Grotton, who has served as interim Athletic Director since June, Parsons is expected to bring both leadership and strategic insight to the athletics department. His experience and vision may help elevate Husson’s athletic programs even further.

With sports increasingly driven by analytics and data, Parsons’ expertise in this area could be a game-changer. A recent survey noted that over 75% of college athletic programs are now focusing on data-driven strategies to enhance performance and recruitment. This trend underscores the importance of having a leader like Parsons on board.

As Husson University continues to develop its athletic programs, the addition of Parsons marks a critical step toward a dynamic future for the Eagles.
