Four new members have just joined the Santa Barbara Zoo Board of Directors: Whitney Duncan, Jack Martin, Christopher O’Connor, and Megan Orloff. This team will help support the zoo’s mission of preserving and enhancing our natural world through education and conservation efforts.
Whitney Duncan comes from a background in cultural anthropology and has about 20 years of experience in interior design. She is deeply involved in her community and works with her husband at their family business, Rusty’s Pizza Parlors. Whitney has been a strong supporter of the zoo, following the example set by her mother-in-law, Carol Duncan, a former board member.
Jack Martin is a well-known entrepreneur in Santa Barbara. He founded Action Roofing in 1985 and later started Action Energy in 2008. His leadership in the community includes a role as president of the Santa Barbara Contractors Board. Jack is passionate about weather forecasting, showcasing his diverse interests.
Christopher O’Connor brings over 30 years of experience in the financial services sector. He began his career at Santa Barbara Bank & Trust in 1991 and now focuses on private wealth management. He is dedicated to community service, having served on boards like the Westmont Foundation and the Down Syndrome Association of Santa Barbara County.
Megan Orloff serves as executive vice president and chief strategy officer at Montecito Bank & Trust, where she shapes the bank’s long-term strategy. Her previous roles include brand and marketing positions at major advertising agencies in New York. Megan is also active in local nonprofits like Angels Foster Care Santa Barbara and Youth Interactive. She looks forward to collaborating with the zoo on conservation projects.
These board members bring a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to making a positive impact. As more people engage with nature-centered activities, the role of organizations like the Santa Barbara Zoo becomes even more crucial.
