The Tamil Nadu government recently made significant changes by appointing new secretaries to key departments and new Collectors for Coimbatore and Theni. This reshuffle, announced on February 9, 2025, aims to enhance governance in the state.

P. Senthil Kumar will now oversee the Health and Family Welfare Department, while Supriya Sahu has been appointed the Secretary for Environment, Climate Change, and Forests. J. Radhakrishnan is taking the lead as Chairman and Managing Director of TANGEDCO and Tamil Nadu Power Generation Corporation Limited.
Other notable appointments include J. Jayakanthan as Secretary of the Public Works Department, Mangat Ram Sharma as Secretary of Water Resources, and B. Chandramohan as Secretary of School Education. Meanwhile, C. Samayamoorthy will manage the Higher Education Department.
In addition, G. Prakash has been assigned to the Human Resources Management Department, and K. Gopal will head the Special Initiatives Department. K. Manivasan is now Secretary for Tourism, Culture, and Endowments, and Satyabrata Sahoo will oversee the Cooperation, Food, and Consumer Protection Department.
Kumar Jayant is managing the Commercial Taxes and Registration Department, and Brajendra Navnit will continue as Secretary for Information Technology and Digital Services. N. Subbaiyan takes charge of Animal Husbandry, while S. Madhumathi steps in as Secretary for the Welfare of Differently-Abled Persons.
For the District Collectors, Pavankumar G. Giriyappavanar has been appointed in Coimbatore, and Ranjeet Singh will serve in Theni. Har Sahay Meena is now the Commissioner of Archives, and K. Nanthakumar has become Registrar of Cooperative Societies.
Additional roles include T.N. Venkatesh as Chairman and Managing Director of Poompuhar Shipping Corporation Limited and Maheswari Ravikumar as Director of Textiles. A. Annadurai steps in as Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited.
S. Vineet will lead as Mission Director for the National Health Mission and Joint Secretary in Health and Family Welfare. V. Kalaiarasi has been appointed as Special Secretary for the welfare of Backward Classes and Minorities, with S. Suresh Kumar as Commissioner of Backward Classes Welfare.
T. Abraham will oversee Agricultural Marketing, while Kiran Gurrala becomes Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board. Alby John Varghese takes on the Managing Director role for Tamil Nadu Power Generation Corporation Limited.
Finally, S. Prabhakar has been assigned as the Member Secretary of the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority, and Anshul Mishra will serve as Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board. Kranti Kumar Pati becomes Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation. This reshuffle reflects the government’s strategy to optimize its administrative structure and enhance service delivery.
