Pirelli is stepping up its game in cycling by teaming up with the Belgian Alpecin-Deceuninck team until 2029.
Milano (Italy), January 14, 2025 – This partnership will strengthen Pirelli’s role in the World Tour and XCO World Cup, enhancing their bike tyre offerings.
The season kicks off with the Australian Tour Down Under 2025, where Alpecin-Deceuninck’s Canyon bikes will be fitted with Pirelli tyres. The Development team will also use these tyres.
Pirelli’s top road racing tyre, the P ZERO RACE TLR RS, will be on the athletes’ bikes. These tubeless-ready tyres are designed for peak performance. For tougher races like the Cobbled Classics and Strade Bianche, the team can rely on the P ZERO RACE TLR and CINTURATO Gravel tyres for off-road events. For Olympic Cross Country and Cross-Country Short Track racing, the MTB SCORPION XC line will be available in various models.
The Alpecin-Deceuninck team features star athletes, including Mathieu van der Poel, who won key races like the Roubaix and Tour of Flanders in 2024, and Jasper Philipsen, the green jersey winner at the 2023 Tour de France.
Samuele Bressan, Global Marketing Manager of Pirelli Cycling, shared excitement about the partnership. He noted that working with a highly skilled team allows Pirelli to develop innovative products across all cycling disciplines. “We collaborate closely with the team’s technicians and athletes to create high-performance tyres,” he said.
Mathieu van der Poel tested the P ZERO RACE TLR RS tyres during a training camp and was impressed. “I found fantastic grip on slippery roads. I always felt in control,” he commented.
Team General Manager Philip Roodhooft added, “We’re excited to partner with Pirelli. Our riders have given positive feedback on the tyres after tests. We believe Pirelli can enhance our performance and support us in our quest for continuous improvement.”
