Exciting Comeback: Iconic Fast Food Chain Opens New Locations You Don’t Want to Miss!

Roy Rogers Restaurants, named after the iconic cowboy, is making a comeback. Once a fast-food giant with over 600 stores in the U.S., the chain is reviving its presence with 24 company-owned and 16 franchise locations spread across seven states.

The latest restaurant opened on June 25 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, drawing crowds even in sweltering heat. This marks Roy Rogers’ re-entry into South Jersey, a region it had abandoned since the 1990s, when Marriott sold the chain.

The excitement was palpable with long lines of hungry customers. One of those in line, Miguel Rivera, shared how he missed the chain from family trips. “I wanted to have it again,” he said.

Historically, Roy Rogers started in 1968 in Falls Church, Virginia. The name came after Marriott acquired the RoBee’s chain in the ’60s but couldn’t use that name. The restaurant franchise grew quickly, peaking at over 600 locations. However, after a tumultuous 1990s, where many locations were sold or converted to other brands, the Plamondon brothers bought the chain back in 2002 and began revitalizing it.

Despite its ups and downs, Roy Rogers prides itself on a unique offering. Their “Triple Threat” menu features burgers, roast beef, and fried chicken, all customizable at a Fixin’s Bar. Jim Plamondon expressed confidence that new fans and loyal customers will appreciate the varied menu and quality of food.

Recent food trends show a growing consumer demand for fast-casual dining, with a 2022 report by the National Restaurant Association indicating that 54% of consumers prefer it. This trend may favor Roy Rogers as they work to attract a new generation of diners.

Local reactions highlight the nostalgia associated with the brand. Many customers fondly recall dining at their outlets during family trips. In an age where fast food is often uniform, Roy Rogers offers something different—both in menu variety and the comforting sense of connection to the past.

With plans for further expansion, the co-president emphasized their commitment to delivering quality and meeting community needs. They aim to continue growing, making Roy Rogers a nostalgic yet fresh choice for fast food lovers.
