The WKU women’s golf team just finished the first two rounds of the Boilermaker Classic in West Lafayette, Indiana. Sydney Hackett and Nina McMurtrey shone brightly, leading the Lady Toppers. Currently, WKU is tied for 10th place, just two strokes away from ninth.
Highlights from the Tournament:
- In the first round, WKU scored 303 (+15) and followed with 305 (+17) in the second round. They are now tied with North Florida for 10th.
- Senior Sydney Hackett ended the day at 4-over, with a round of 3-over followed by 1-over. She’s tied for 21st and has nine birdies, ranking third in the tournament.
- Nina McMurtrey also finished at 4-over, sharing her 21st spot. She began strong with a 1-over score but posted 3-over in the second. She has eight birdies so far.
- Sophomore Kaylee Dwyer shot 9-over, tying for 38th place with scores of 76 and 77.
- Freshman Leah Edwards sits at 10-over, tied for 49th. She started well with 2-over but struggled in the second round.
- Freshman Reagan Ramage is alongside Edwards, scoring 79 in the first round and improving to 75 in the second.
- Senior Averi Cline recorded a total of 166, with scores of 78 and 88.
Coach Adam Gary reflected on the challenges faced during the rounds. “It was a tough day today. We had a lot of birdies but too many bogeys. We’ll learn and improve tomorrow,” he remarked.

The Lady Toppers will finish the tournament with the final round on Tuesday, starting at 8 a.m. (CT).
