Exciting Dealer Updates: Sonic Expands with New Jaguar Store & Healey Brothers Launches Community Food Drive!

Sonic Automotive has made a notable move by acquiring Jaguar Land Rover Santa Monica from Redwood Automotive. This addition cements Sonic’s status as the largest Jaguar Land Rover retailer in the U.S. The Santa Monica dealership marks Sonic’s 11th JLR location, expanding its national footprint of 126 franchise spots and 18 EchoPark used-car stores.

David Smith, Sonic’s chairman and CEO, expressed excitement about this acquisition. He believes it enhances Sonic’s position in the luxury car market and reflects the growth momentum of the company. Smith emphasized the opportunity to innovate and serve their customers better.

This acquisition follows a recent deal in July when Sonic took over four other JLR stores in California. According to company reports, this move makes Sonic the leading JLR retailer in the country by sales volume for 2024. Jeff Dyke, president of Sonic, shared that the Santa Monica store will enhance customer experiences and strengthen connections in the dynamic Southern California market. He aims for a consistent, high-quality service across their growing network.

Sudhir Sood, CEO of Redwood and dealer principal of JLR Santa Monica, voiced optimism about the transition. He acknowledged Sonic’s strong leadership in the luxury market and expressed confidence in a successful future under their management.

In a different initiative, Healey Brothers Automotive Group has launched its August Community Food Drive to address hunger in the Hudson Valley, New York. Partnering with the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, they invite residents to donate non-perishable food items at any of their nine dealerships until August 31.

Jay Healey, the chief marketing officer, mentioned that food insecurity is a pressing issue in their community. To encourage donations, Healey Brothers introduced a friendly competition amongst their dealerships, rewarding the location that collects the most items.

In 2023, Healey Brothers donated $50,000 to the food bank, providing $250,000 worth of goods to families in need. This food drive continues their commitment to supporting local communities.

Both Sonic Automotive and Healey Brothers show that businesses can play vital roles in their communities, whether through expansion in the luxury market or direct support for those facing food insecurity.
