Michael A. Hart, the Assistant City Manager, described the project as a collaborative effort involving multiple local and state stakeholders. The facility will focus on plant-based beverages, specifically almond and cashew milk, but it will also support smaller businesses by allowing them to test new products.
Tyler Rossmaessler, director of the Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance, expressed excitement about the project. “This will not just be about making almond milk. Entrepreneurs can experiment with their beverages here,” he said. The starting pay for these new jobs is expected to be around $25 an hour, along with benefits. Local leaders believe this investment will spark growth in nearby businesses as well.
Todd Sanders, a local economic analyst, highlighted that Michigan successfully competed against several other states for this project. “Workforce quality and transportation access were key factors in our favor,” he noted. Infrastructure upgrades are also planned to support this development, further enhancing Fenton’s appeal for future investments.
