There’s exciting news for Newark! A new student housing complex is now open, thanks to Hawkins Way Capital, a company based in Beverly Hills. They recently purchased the University Centre, a large property with 521 bedrooms located at 250 Central Avenue.

This place will now be called FOUND Study Newark at University Centre. It’s the first FOUND Study in New Jersey, catering to students from nearby universities, including Rutgers University-Newark, the New Jersey Institute of Technology, and Seton Hall University.
So, what is FOUND Study? It’s a budget-friendly option providing affordable living for students and interns across urban areas in the U.S. Their properties typically come with shared living spaces and various amenities. One of their major projects is a 34-story building at 525 Lexington Avenue in Manhattan, which opened last year for over 1,300 students.
At the University Centre, the goal is to enhance the student living experience. “We are dedicated to providing well-designed, amenity-rich housing,” said Ross Walker, Managing Partner of Hawkins Way Capital. They believe this location—right next to schools—offers a vibrant environment that combines comfort and convenience.
In the coming months, the University Centre will increase its capacity to house up to 800 students, up from 690. The complex boasts impressive amenities, including:
- A 24-hour fitness center
- A theater room
- Recreation rooms open all day
- An Academic Success Center with computers and free printing
Other conveniences include on-site laundry, garage parking, bike storage, and high-speed internet access. Although the sale price hasn’t been revealed, this new addition is set to make a significant impact on student housing in Newark.
