Exciting Doubleheader: Ottawa University Softball Claims Victory in One Game Against University of Houston-Victoria

VICTORIA, Texas – The Ottawa University softball team played a doubleheader against the University of Houston-Victoria. They won the first game but lost the second.

Game One
The game started slow until the Jaguars scored in the fourth inning, making it 1-0. But the Braves quickly responded in the fifth.

Mallory Dunn walked to begin the inning. Then, Megan Kennedy’s bunt advanced her. Macy Roever followed up with an infield single, putting two runners on base. Kara Hafenstine came through with a great double, sending both Dunn and Roever home. Suddenly, the Braves led 2-1.

Ottawa’s defense held strong, keeping UHV scoreless for the rest of the game and clinching a 2-1 victory.

Game Two
In the second game, the Braves started strong again. Macy Roever got on base with a clever bunt. Kara Hafenstine moved her to third with another bunt. Then, Addison Spencer brought Roever home with a single, giving Ottawa a 1-0 lead.

However, the game turned in the sixth inning. The Jaguars erupted for six runs, finishing the game at 6-1. Ottawa couldn’t recover in their final at-bats.
