The Outreach House, a nonprofit based in Lombard, is making strides to support the community. They recently received a significant grant of $115,495 from Endeavor Health’s 2026 Community Investment Fund. This funding will help expand their food collection efforts and enhance their marketing strategies.
Catherine Lynott, the executive director of The Outreach House, expressed gratitude for the support, noting that this grant will help them continue their mission to help local families with compassion and dignity. She highlighted the importance of a strong partnership with Endeavor Health, which collaborates with many local organizations to tackle pressing community health issues.
The Outreach House aims to use the grant to buy a second cargo van. This addition will allow them to collect food donations more efficiently. Currently, they make trips to the Northern Illinois Food Bank twice a week, along with 37 other trips to various retailers. With the new van, they can gather multiple donations at once and distribute food to around 2,000 adults and children each week.
In addition to enhancing their capacity, The Outreach House recognizes the need for a better communications strategy. With the funding support, they plan to hire a consultant to improve their marketing efforts and engage better with supporters, volunteers, and donors.
Food insecurity is a growing issue. According to the USDA, 10.5% of U.S. households faced food insecurity in 2021. This underscores the importance of organizations like The Outreach House. By increasing their outreach, they can connect with more people in need.
Overall, the support from Endeavor Health will allow The Outreach House to strengthen its services and better serve the community. For more details on their programs, check out their website here. For information about Endeavor Health’s Community Investment Fund, visit this link.
