CAA Women’s Basketball Highlights – Feb. 14

Friday night was thrilling in the CAA, with close games showcasing fierce competition.
Drexel 59, William & Mary 58 (OT)
Drexel edged out William & Mary in overtime, 59-58. Drexel improved to 9-3 in the conference while William & Mary fell to 7-4.
William & Mary initially led by seven points in the second quarter. However, Drexel made a strong comeback, tying the game in the fourth quarter. With just over two minutes left, Deja Evans scored to bring the Dragons even. In overtime, Chloe Hodges was fouled with just half a second on the clock and made all three free throws to seal the victory. McCormack shined for Drexel with 20 points, while Nascimento led the Tribe with 23.
Hampton 59, Stony Brook 57
Hampton clung to a narrow victory over Stony Brook, winning 59-57. After entering the third quarter with a four-point lead, Hampton struggled to score until late in the game.
Jasha Clinton hit a crucial three-pointer, and a late free throw from her secured the win. Le’Asia Foreman was Hampton’s top scorer with 13 points, while Sharmla King led Stony Brook with an impressive 19.
Towson 64, Hofstra 51
Towson pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat Hofstra, 64-51. The Tigers were down by two at the start of the final period but launched a strong 13-2 run.
Khady Leye’s three-pointer opened the scoring in the fourth, followed by contributions from Deja Bristol and India Johnston that helped Towson regain control. Johnston finished as the game’s top scorer with 15 points.
Elon 70, UNCW 56
Elon dominated UNCW, winning 70-56. The Phoenix came out strong, holding UNCW to just 11 points in the first quarter.
Raven Preston led the way for Elon, finishing with a double-double of 16 points and 12 assists. The team’s strong defense kept UNCW at bay throughout the game.
Delaware 70, Monmouth 61
Delaware overcame a late challenge from Monmouth to secure a 70-61 victory. After leading for most of the game, Delaware faced a scare in the third quarter when Monmouth closed the gap.
Chloe Wilson stepped up for Delaware, helping the team regain its lead when it was needed most. Ande’a Cherisier led the Blue Hens with 22 points.
N.C. A&T 73, Northeastern 55
N.C. A&T cruised to a 73-55 win over Northeastern. The Aggies shot an impressive 58.5% from the floor and dominated the scoring in the paint.
Chaniya Clark was standout performer with 17 points and 12 rebounds, marking her sixth double-double of the season.
