We’re a few months away from Apple unveiling the iPhone 18, but rumors are buzzing in the meantime. Recently, a couple of leaks have surfaced regarding its cameras and colors.
One exciting detail comes from a report by Korean outlet ETNews via MacRumors. It claims that the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will introduce a variable-aperture rear camera system. Until now, iPhones have used fixed-aperture cameras, meaning the lens stayed fully open. A variable aperture will adjust depending on lighting conditions, allowing for better photos in dark and bright settings. This change could enhance photography flexibility, a point supported by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who predicted this feature as far back as 2024.
In terms of colors, Macworld reports “Dark Cherry” will be the standout color this year, taking over from the criticized cosmic orange of the iPhone 17 Pro. Additional options like light blue, dark gray, and silver may also be available. Interestingly, it seems Apple might drop black from the lineup, which could spark reactions from loyal fans.
As the launch date approaches in September, a lot of eyes will be on the iPhone 18, especially with talk of the rumored iPhone Fold stealing some spotlight. With these upgrades, Apple is likely aiming to keep its place at the forefront of smartphone technology.
