Hello iRacers,
It’s an exciting time in the world of motorsports and sim racing! Recent months have seen thrilling championship battles and an incredible surge in sim racing participation. Thanks to everyone who joined the iRacing Indy 500—what a race! The final lap was a nail-biter as Philip Kraus clinched victory in a thrilling photo finish. It’s moments like these that remind us why we love racing.
As we wrap up Season 2, we’re gearing up for an amazing Season 3. Our team has been hard at work, and we can’t wait to share what we have planned. Let’s dive into a preview of the new cars and tracks, along with some exciting updates.
First up, we have new tracks! One highlight is the Shell V-Power Motorsport Park, known as “The Bend,” in South Australia. It features diverse racing configurations and challenges, making it a great addition for racers. The Bend’s layout combines tricky sections with fast corners and has significant elevation changes, ensuring plenty of excitement.
In addition to new tracks, we’re upgrading existing ones. Notably, tracks like Iowa Speedway and Richmond Raceway have been rescanned and remodeled to reflect recent changes in the real world. These updates will be a free upgrade for current owners of those tracks, enhancing your racing experience without any extra cost.
- Iowa Speedway: Major repaving changes improve the driving experience.
- Richmond Raceway: While not repaved, significant infrastructure upgrades have been made.
- Sonoma Raceway: The track has undergone an exciting refresh, revitalizing its classic features.
The racing cars lineup for Season 3 is equally thrilling. We’re introducing the stunning Ferrari 296 Challenge, a standout in customer racing, capable of fierce competition against GT3 cars. Its engineering includes a powerful V6 twin-turbo engine and advanced aerodynamics, ensuring an electrifying race experience.
We are also launching the Gen 4 Cup cars, featuring the 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and Ford Taurus. These iconic racecars come with unique designed bodies that represent an exciting era in NASCAR.
Additionally, the IR18 INDYCAR will receive a major upgrade in collaboration with real-world teams and drivers, enhancing physics and driving feel. The changes promise to elevate realism and excitement on the track.
As we evolve, we are committed to enhancing the user experience by introducing new features like quad-view foveated rendering for VR, aimed at improving graphics performance. Our team has been tirelessly working to prepare our rain visuals for a more realistic representation on track, which is set to improve player interaction during wet races.
On the tech side, we are advancing our AI systems to improve their behavior, making racing against bots much more enjoyable. Our ongoing focus on the future promises continuous improvements and new features in the works.
In closing, a huge thank you for being part of our community. We’re excited about the upcoming season and can’t wait to see you on the track. Your support fuels our passion for sim racing and drives us to keep refining and enhancing the iRacing experience.
See you soon on the circuit!
