Malda, January 16: Indian Railways has revealed platform changes for 30 trains at Malda Town station on January 16 and 17. This is to prepare for the debut of the first Vande Bharat Sleeper train.

Railway Board Chairman Satish Kumar, along with Eastern Railway officials, checked out the new sleeper rake. These changes aim to manage crowds and ensure smooth operations during this significant event.

Vande Bharat Sleeper Inaugural Run

The Vande Bharat Sleeper Inaugural Special will leave Malda Town at 1:15 PM on January 17 and arrive at Kamakhya by 11:15 PM. It will stop at several stations, including Aluabari Road and New Jalpaiguri, before reaching its final destination.

Platform Changes on January 16

  • Platform 5: Gour Express, Malda Town–Sealdah Gour Express, Balurghat–Malda Town Passenger
  • Platform 6: Patna–Malda Town Express, Digha–Malda Town Express, Kiul–Malda Town Intercity
  • Platform 3: NJP–Howrah Vande Bharat Express, Katihar–Howrah Express, and others
  • Platform 7: Howrah–Malda Town Intercity

Platform Changes on January 17

  • Platform 5: NJP–Digha Paharia Express, Gour Express
  • Platform 3: Kamakhya–Old Delhi Brahmaputra Mail
  • Platform 7: Malda Town–Howrah Intercity
  • Platform 4: Sealdah–Haldibari Darjeeling Mail
  • Platform 6: Malda Town–Kiul Intercity, and others

Shibram Majhi, the Eastern Railway CPRO, assured that these changes are temporary. He advised travelers to check the platform details using official railway apps or at the station before heading out.

The launch of the Vande Bharat Sleeper train is a significant milestone for Indian Railways. It promotes modern travel with comfort and speed, marking a step toward modernizing the rail network. The train offers semi-high-speed overnight travel, a much-needed update for long journeys.
