Exciting Leadership Change: Sony Names Hiroki Totoki CEO to Propel Entertainment Growth – News18

Sony has chosen Hiroki Totoki as its new CEO. With a strong finance background, he’s been a key player in shifting the company towards more content-driven growth.

Sony's ambition reflects the intent of exploring acquisitions such as Paramount Global and Kadokawa Corp. in 2023.

In 2023, Sony even looked into acquiring companies like Paramount Global and Kadokawa Corp. This move shows their goal to boost their impact in gaming, anime, music, and film.

Totoki, along with outgoing CEO Kenichiro Yoshida (who will continue as chairman), has helped solidify Sony’s position as a leader in the entertainment sector. Their strategy has already shown results. In the September quarter, Sony’s operating profit jumped by 76%. This surge came despite a dip in demand for smartphone components used by major companies like Apple and Xiaomi.

Starting April 1, 2025, the leadership changes will include:

  • Hiroki Totoki as President and CEO
  • Hideaki Nishino overseeing the game and network services division
  • Hermen Hulst leading Sony’s game studio business

In Totoki’s own words, “I feel honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead Sony. I look forward to collaborating with our 110,000 employees to further grow the company.”
