Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley has announced Misty R. Jones as its new permanent president and CEO. After three months with an interim leader, she will officially start her role on June 9.
Jones steps in following Rick Shumway’s departure in January, when he was promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer for Stanford Health Care. During the transition, Mino Sastry took care of operations while the search for a new leader began.
With over 20 years in health care, Jones brings valuable experience. Most recently, she served as chief operating officer for two academic medical centers within SSM Health, a non-profit health system in St. Louis, Missouri. Her leadership has led to significant improvements in patient care and operational efficiency.
“We are thrilled to welcome Misty Jones to Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley,” Shumway stated. He believes her strategic planning skills will enhance the organization’s mission of providing excellent patient care and support to the community.
At SSM Health, Jones achieved notable successes, including increasing operating room volumes and improving performance in value-based care. Previously, she worked at MU Health Care in Missouri, where she focused on driving organizational changes and enhancing efficiency.
As president and CEO, Jones will develop and implement strategic plans for Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley. She will collaborate with stakeholders from both Stanford Medicine and the local community to ensure the health system grows sustainably while serving patients effectively.
In recent years, the health care sector has faced numerous challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, which has pushed organizations to adapt rapidly. Statistics from the American Hospital Association indicate that the financial strain from the pandemic has led to an increased focus on operational efficiency and care quality in hospitals nationwide. This context will position Jones to address ongoing changes in the health landscape in her new role.
As she embarks on this journey, the community can expect thoughtful leadership from Jones, aimed at enhancing health services and overall patient experiences in the Tri-Valley area.
