The Governing Council of Salem University in Lokoja has appointed new leaders as part of its 18th anniversary celebrations. Professor Sunday Okpanachi is now the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), and Dr. Adejoh Emmanuel takes on the role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration). Alewo Johnson-Akubo, the university’s Vice Chancellor, shared the news on Monday.

In addition, Kachalla Solomon has been appointed as Principal Assistant Registrar. All three individuals have prior experience in significant roles within the university—Okpanachi was the former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Emmanuel previously served as the Registrar, and Solomon was the Senior Assistant Registrar.

These appointments are effective immediately. Johnson-Akubo has encouraged the new appointees to leverage their experience to elevate the university further. He emphasized Salem University’s commitment to fulfilling its founder’s vision, Archbishop Sam Amaga, particularly in empowering Nigerian youth.

Transforming education is essential. According to a recent report from the National Bureau of Statistics, over 60% of Nigerian youths now prioritize quality education as a path to better job opportunities. This commitment to education aligns with Salem University’s ongoing initiatives, such as the upcoming Law Week beginning May 19.
